New Video Player - Unable to select subtitles whilst playing content

Today I switched to the new video player, and whilst playing a TV show I wanted to add subtitles.

When I clicked on the cog for playback settings, it didn’t display options for subtitles.

I had to exit the TV show and search for the subtitles there.

Once I added the subtitles and started playing the show again, I opened settings again and the options for subtitles was displayed. I tried to switch the subtitles off, but it didn’t work.

My app just got updated to this release. I’m experiencing the exact same issue.

I actually tried out the 7.25-beta with the new player a couple of weeks ago, I was able to search for subtitles on-demand whilst playing. The sub. search-window was transparent and clean. I was surprised and I really liked it.

I’m very disappointed to see that Plex releases a new version without making sure that all features are intact.

I hope they read this and fixes it ASAP!

Same problem. Can’t believe there isn’t more people complaining and a solution. Been watching everything without subtitles the past few days because of this.

it might not be affecting everyone, it shows for me for example

You can add subtitles… well I can, but you need to choose the from the settings menu, before you start playing the TV show / movie

I’ve noticed that the search option is only available when there is a subtitle available in the same folder as the movie.

They just dropped a new update 7.25.1.14216. The update did not fix the issue.

It’s pretty lame that I have to quit watching to select cc - no other streaming app I’ve used does that.

Sorry about that, we accidentally broke the subtitle display menu, a fix will be released later today. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for responding

By the way, I love the new video player interface…!
Do you know when it will be available on Fire Stick app? Because rewinding and forwarding on the fire stick is a painful experience…!

You can sideload it on to your Amazon device with the APK and use it right now, it should be available on the Amazon Store within the next few days.

I have not seen the update yet but I checked on Apple Tv4, Fire Stick and Samsung TV - they all have the correct subtitles options.

Hi, I have just enabled the new video player on the fire stick and it has the same issue.

I don’t understand your response - does it relate to the title of this post?

Yes.
I cannot get subtitles on my Shield but there is allegedly an update fixing it - like yesterday.

I do not have the same subtitle issue on ATV4, Fire tick or Samsung TV .
Get it?

I think you mean “No”, because this post is to do with the video player on Android TV.

Didn’t you see the tag?

Next time submit your own post for other devices you have issues with.

Same issue here!

Hi @sixones, the issue still exists on the Android and Firestick apps. When is it due to be fixed?
