No subtitles after update to 7.24.0.13705

Server Version#: 1.18.1.2019
Player Version#: 7.24.0.13705

after the latest update of my plex app on my smart tv sony , subtitles are not shown anymore as before, even if I force them in the settings of the plex server. I tried to use the plex server on my ds218play nas and also on my pc with windows 10 (both have the latest server version as written above), but with neither of them the subtitles shows up (actually, on one movie they do show up, but not in the series I was watching yesterday with subtitles).

thanks!

Same problem here with Sony Bravia TV. Yesterday, I could play with subtitles without any issues. Now after the update, no more subtitles. Works fine on android phone and on Mac OS X, just not on Android TV. Player layout has changed and more options on subtitle placement are available now, just the subtitles seem to be embedded behind the screen as when you stop, you will find a flash of the subtitles appear. Could anyone at Plex please deal with this urgently as this is a bug?
Thanks

Same here exactly. Stopped working thus morning when apparently, the Bravia updated the plex app. All settings for subtitles are hidden behind many more screens whereas before I could change them pretty easily. Might there be a setting we have to choose first? I also did see the flash of a subtitle when stopping the episode. No problems on plex app on ios.

I updated my Android phone to the same latest version just now and no issues there, subs are still playing.

Exact same problem here with the flash of subtitles when u exit and all. Sony Bravia X8500F

Hope it gets fixed soon. New player seems to be smoother

Just found out if you go to settings. There is an option to turn off the new video player for now on the last row. Hope this helps

Awesome work, this indeed helps for now!
The old video player displays the subtitles again.

I cannot find it: you mean in client plex app or in the server app?

in the client app on the TV you need to scroll along the advanced row to find it

found it, thanks… now I have many lag problem during playback via my nas ds218play since the last update of yesterday, both with the old and new player.

New version this morning, 7.24.1.13771, they seem to have rolled back so it works again. Inside the settings menu, the extra subtitle options are still available (like position, background Etc.) player is ExoPlayer v2, whereas in yesterday’s version it said just ExoPlayer.

I thought I was alone…

I like the new player but the subtitles option is gone completely. Seems like a pretty big thing to forget!
