Does PLEX really think that by changing the User Interface randomly that they will attract new users or do they realize they are just pissing off the ones that have been supporting this product for years. I think it is both but the pissing category is the one I am in.
I usually watch my videos in random order and it seems that this has now been buried in a sub menu. To add more to this now when you pick up on a show either partially watched or not once you find the shuffle option you now only can shuffle the current season you are in and not the entire show. If you want the entire show (all seasons) then you have to go into your tv library and pick the show up from there then you can shuffle watching the entire show (all seasons).
I would guess theyâre making changes with the goal of improving the UI/UX of Plex. Is it necessary to accuse them of bad intent, or of not thinking about the product they make and sell for a living?
I suspect weâre the unusual group, and that âShuffleâ isnât actually the most common way shows are watched. Iâve never noticed any of my users doing so.
I personally do use it frequently, and it drives me bonkers to have to dig for it. Iâm also hoping that âGo to Showâ and âShuffleâ escape from ââŠâ jail and return to the top level.
I thought something went wrong on my Roku too, it does not tell the difference between 4k and 4k hdr with this dumb down ui, the old UI was so nice why change? I vote for a revert too
On the Video Information screen where it says UHD 4k (beside movie length) on 4k content, it used to say 4k HEVC HDR or 4k HEVC/4k h264 if non hdr content, I canât remember exactly what it said but now both HDR and SDR show as UHD 4k
I still canât believe we had a Polished, Nearly Perfect AppâŠ
Now we start another decades long quest begging for a working app - the working app we had only a few hours ago.
I predict I wonât live long enough to see this new âVisionâ repaired. A Career as a Plex User is a game for the young. Apparently.
Not necessarily in the minority⊠Roku users (I have one) tend to assume they are at the cutting edge (beta testers and what all clients strive to be ) for changes in Plex.
Apple TV is the cutting edge (guinea pigs) for UI changes almost always in Plex.
I may be wrong but I donât recall seeing a single complaint on the ATV section when it hit a couple of weeks ago.
I do get it though reading some of the comments. Plex always used orange triangles., however nonsensical that was. The orange bar NOW discerns between unwatched, partially watched, or fully watched. I mean how stupid is that??
Again I get that Roku is a popular client and holds of lot sway with Plex,
40-50 posts from 10-20 unique users will have Plex and @elan running for the hills and revert will be in order.
This is a gripe as I have 520+ HDR 4K movies. and Plex sees only 29.
BUT its nothing to do with the resolution. Its nothing to do with the client. Android TV is (it feels) a decade behind the Roku and further behind âproperâ cutting edge clients. Its a server regression in all recent PMS updates regardless of client.
One last thought⊠I do agree that people like to shuffle episodes. Why (for most shows) I have no idea.
Donât be sillyâŠ
Weâd need another âKilling PMPâ to get Elan off his perch and thatâs not gonna happen.
Roku Users got Steam Rolled and smashed into this new pavement Plex is putting down. When my FireTV and my Roku have the same crap on them I can use the FireTV. At least Iâll have 30 forward and 10 back again and wonât have an OSD in my face when I hit pause.
Plex gonna do what Plex gonna do.
A few flattened Roku Users ainât nothinâ but a thing.
Noticed last night that another piece of functionality has been removed from this wonderful update to plex on the roku app.
Previously within a TV Show you could select to view by season which would give you a unwatched count per season. This has been removed or at least I cannot find it anymore.
You can select the three dots and then select by show which will give you the total unwatched count per show but there is no option per season.
This was very useful when watching something like The Simpsons or Friends which have a large number of seasons.
I will note that when Plex gets the app they want - the leap across what used to be a canyon to Emby will be more like stepping over a mud-puddle. Itâs getting smaller and dryer every day.
I suspect weâre the unusual group, and that âShuffleâ isnât actually the most common way shows are watched. Iâve never noticed any of my users doing so.
If you have kids, Shuffle is a lifesaver. I love Sarah and Duck as much as the next man, but watching the same episodes over-and-over in the same order is a killer. If anything, I wish there was functionality to shuffle-play an entire category!
What is now really stupid is having all previously watched episodes having this full orange bar and unwatched with nothing. The triangle is much neater and cleaner from a UX standpoint IMO.
Yes of course. I said the same thing.
Why an orange triangle is better than a non-existant, partial or full orange bar is worse (other than it never used to be that) was my point.
