Updates

I may be old in replying, but you left such a LONG AND POINTLESS rant that basically told the people who could help you, nothing.

I maintain multiple Plex servers, in different locations. My company is actually developing a product that will incorporate Plex in it. So, with that being said, I am just stating that to show that I M not a novice. But updating Plex is a simple process, and as with ANY software, making backups before doing an update is highly advised and advocated. This is not just for Plex, but as I stated, ANY software.

But Plex’s infrastructure and installer make it incredibly easy to upgrade, especially on Windows. Being a

as your husband is really means nothing in the grand scheme of things. This is just me ranting, but most software development companies don’t just label their developers “Sr. C++ Developer Engineer”. Usually, it is just “Sr Software Engineer” Despite that, since Plex is a closed eco-system, his programming skills don’t matter. But I am getting off subject.

A simple google search for Updating Plex brought me this:
Updating Plex Media Server

Installing Plex

Updating Plex on Windows is by far, the easiest to do. Even updating on Linux has become an easy task with the addition of Repository Updating. While the majority of the Plex servers I maintain are Linux based, there are a few Windows and FreeBSD installations. The biggest hurdle I face is, one of the instances we manage has approximately 6TB of media and services about 40 connected devices. At any time, there seems to always be someone viewing content and finding a “safe” time, where the impact is low becomes the hard part. But with the update taking less than 2 minutes to complete, the users have come to expect an outage around 2am localtime. Unless there is a critical update that has to happen, they are notified in advance. And typically, the only “critical” updates have been to the operating system or network.

So please, post more information, and maybe someone can help you directly
