<II have been trying to update my Plex web app for over 45 minutes to the update 1.43. I just keep getting the message that it is installing an update. And the little spinning circle. How long does this really take?
I have tried updating in the past with also no luck and just gave up.
Where exactly are you getting stuck with the update, seeing that spinner?
Is it part of the installer or when you try to open the web app?
If you’re updating from PMS version 1.40, this might take a moment. IIRC, there’s been a number of changes to the database since then. Your server will apply those step-by-step. That could explain if you see a warning message about a http/503 error (indicating the server maintenance).
I don’t see any type of progress bar. The little circle just keeps spinning. This is using the web app if that makes a difference. I have no idea where the update is at as far as progress. So how long should I let this update run? Not sure if I made myself clear. Open to suggestions.
If I right click on Plex in my taskbar and click install updates, it just goes to a plex screen with a spinning circle in the middle of the screen. Never see any progress indicators.
Sounds like it’s not even getting to download the new version. But that’s hard to tell based on the limited input.
Can you try downloading the latest version from Plex‘s download page, stop the installed Plex Media Server and manually install the new version?
