Updating Server via Web interface or App fails

Player Version#: 4.86.1
Android App Version# 9.5.0.37736

Via the Web, or the App, when an update is available for my server, I select to download it - this works fine. Then when I click install, it indicates that it is installing, BUT:
• The server never goes offline
• The service never restarts
• I can leave it for 24 hours and still no joy.

Restarting the PC it runs on does not shake the issue, and Plex indicates the update is still available.

This has been happening for months, going back several update releases, but is an issue for me now as I cannot physically access my server to manually install it (which on other sites is a known work around), as I am in hospital long term.

This feature always worked well, but now, not at all.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Would need to see your server logs after you try to update to see what’s failing.

If you are remote, it may not be possible to fix. The issue could be there is something running that is preventing the update from shutting down PMS. Or something is missing from the previous install so that the uninstaller fails. We have a support article with more info on this, but you need physical access to the machine to try the fix.
