Upgraded to macOS 26, now liveTV isn't working

Just ran into the same issue again, even with H/W transcoding disabled. Channels are disabled and unmapped. Very frustrating.

There’s a new beta PMS with an upgraded ffmpeg. Any luck with that?
Anybody have a concrete set of steps to reproduce an error every time against the beta?

Your issue isn’t related to the OP’s (which was live TV playing failing). You may want to create your own thread to address your specific issue(s).

The workaround I posted was specifically to address playing of live TV. Nothing to do with channel mapping.

I did perform a quick test with the latest beta (1.43.0.10162) and it fails in the same manner, when hardware-accelerated encoding is enabled. However, this isn’t really a priority for me, as this is just a test server. I’m going to have to leave it to others more invested in the problem to do more testing, provide logs, whatever, if they want to pursue it.

I am just going to stay on the old OS so that it works. Software encoding sounds less desirable. Hopefully it gets fixed with either a plex update or a macOS update

This worked for me! Thank you so much for providing this solution! It has been so frustrating trying to figure this out over the past week.

Can someone who is seeing this please post their logs? It sounds like apple changed something in their api

I can send you logs showing a couple of failures, but I’d prefer to PM them to you. If you could start a chat I’ll send them over. Thanks!

Not too sure about that assumption as Mac 26.0.1 is working fine in AU with

Server version: 1.43.1.10183

MacOS26 has a few quirks when the finder keeps not responding. For me that was a external Drive dropping in out.

Private message me and Ill send you the logs.

I noticed this problem last night. So my live TV recordings played fine with the initial OS 26.0 installation but then failed with OS 26.0.1. Disabling HW acceleration solved the issue. Note that this seems to be for MPEG2 recordings since the rest of of library works and is either HEVC or h.264 files.

I ended up upgrading the OS again because otherwise my iPhoto library wouldn’t load anymore. I tried turning off hardware acceleration and that did the trick for me as well. I am not sure about live tv recordings, I didn’t have any to try, I was strictly talking about livetv itself not displaying a video signal and crashing. That seems to be related to something apple changed in the hardware acceleration. Hopefully plex or apple can fix that with an update but at least it works with software acceleration.

I turned off hardware acceleration and I still cant view live tv.

Did you turn it off in the transcoder section or the live tv section or both? I turned it off in both
