Upgraded to macOS 26, now liveTV isn't working

If you’re not running the current beta I mentioned above, that might contribute to the problem. I never tried the workaround on anything but the 1.43.x.x beta branch.

Appreciate the help! Thank you! Will try the beta.

I just discovered I am having the same problem. My PMS runs on a Mac mini M4, under macOS 26.0.1 and I’m running PMS 1.42.2.10156 (latest version in production).

Switching off “Use hardware-accelerated video encoding” alone in the Device Settings under Live TV & DVR did NOT resolve my problem (the 12971 error noted above). I then switched off “Use hardware-accelerated video encoding” in the Transcoder settings section as well. I left ON “Use hardware acceleration when available”.

And voila, I was once again able to watch Live TV. I then switched “Use hardware-accelerated video encoding back ON in the Device Settings under Live TV & DVR - and it also still worked.

So for me, at least, the magic workaround is just to switch OFF hardware encoding in the Transcoder section of settings.

Mind you, this is pretty lousy as the transcoder switch affects everything streaming from my server, not just Live TV. Since I use Channels DVR 99% of the time for TV viewing, I may just go back to deleting the Silicon Dust tuner from my Plex settings until yet another fix is developed for a future PMS release.

I have this issue and switching off both “Use hardware-accelerated video encoding” in the Transcoder settings and “Use hardware-accelerated video encoding” in the Device Settings under Live TV & DVR did NOT resolve my problem. Extremely frustrated, this was a feature that previously just worked.
