Hi all,
So i upgraded to the new iPhone and had all my 2FA on a Google Authenticator app. Since that one is all wiped due to a new phone restore, I cant login now to my Plex account. And no i dont have the Recovery Codes. i dont even recall seeing these when i had set up the 2FA. i do however have access to my Plex app on my iPad and my PC.
Please help.
THank you
Sounds like your first priority will be to regain access to your account in Google Authenticator.
Cant do that as the old phone is already gone and i didnt know that there was an option to export the old keys.
I suppose that’s a reminder for all of us to properly secure those recovery codes.
You’ll need either the authenticator app OR the recovery codes to regain access to your account.
See the document tom80H linked.
You can have a recovery code sent to your e-mail.
If you can access Account Settings using the Plex PC app, you might be able to use that code to disable 2FA.
You can the re-enable using Google Authenticator on your new phone.
Can I have verification codes sent to my email address?
If you lose access to both your authenticator app and your recovery codes, you can have a single-use code sent to the email address that’s associated with the Plex account.
Thank you SO VERY MUCH. That actually helped.
I was able to login through the PC app, go to settings, turn off 2FA and login on my IOS app.
Problem solved. Thank you.
It is a reminder indeed ![]()
