Why as a paid lifetime Plex pass user can I not upgrade my server with the click of a button, however a person who has not paid a dime to help you out can simply click a button and voila server upgraded. X(
Why as a Plex Pass user do I have to use a third party script or manually download the file and install it? While a free/community user can click a button from within the server GUI.
Seems that logic is backwards.
Some systems have built-in upgrading. Some don’t support it at all due to the OS. It has nothing to do with Plex Pass or free. It is entirely due to the computer.
What OS do you have? What version of Plex are you using?
Ubuntu Server 16.04
Latest version of plex.
Plex Pass authentication is not possible in a software distribution mechanism (a repository) which is designed for anonymous download.
You can enable the repository https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/235974187-Enable-repository-updating-for-supported-Linux-server-distributions and your system will always be up to date at the public distribution level provided you have automatic updates configured for your system.
