Non Media Files in Library

Hi.

Brand new user here.
I have connected my Plex Server to a Synology Nas. I got the Plex app to scan my library, but my TV Shows show up as “movies” in the Plex app, even though they are in separate folders on the Nas. Also isle a ton of non-media files in my library. I know something’s not right in both cases but not sure what or how to fix it. Can someone please help me out?

I was thinking more along the lines of

[mod-edit] re-tagged the picture url so we can actually see it

Ok….bear with me, please. I know I saw that screen when I was setting up Plex, but for some reason I’m not finding it. As soon as I do, I’ll post….

  1. Hover your cursor over the library name in your sidebar
  2. Click ⋮ > Manage Library > Edit...
  3. Open the Add folders tab

Plex needs you to organize tv-shows and movies in separate libraries for them to be properly recognized.

Use the Plex web app. Not the Android app.

This is the screenshot I was able to get. Still not sure this is what you’re looking for.

On my NAS, I have two media folders in the main shared folder; Movies and Television Shows. When I scanned my library, they all show up in the Movies Library.

You got through step 1 and half of step 2 :wink:
Based on that screenshot… click Edit... and then select the Add folder tab. Can we have a screenshot of that?

From what you describe, the library is either pointing to the top-level media folder (the one that contains Movies and Television Shows) or you have added both folders to that library (Movies and Television Shows).

I doubt / should be there. That is EVERYTHING on the device.

Ok…Ill see if I can ail that at the TV Shows folder and see what happens.

Keep in mind the TV shows need to go in a separate library. You cannot mix content types.

Just want t say thank you to all for your help. Plex is up and running, I have my media folders straightened out and all seems to be working great. Thanks again for your help….I wouldn’t have been able to do it without it.
