User rights / access issue

Hi all,

I have something strange going on, i have several user profile set up for my PLEX, essentially for my kids, I have a specific folder called “Movie Kids” and their profile only have access to it, where my own profile have access to all folders, as admin.

I noticed recently that some movies I have put in the “Movie Kids” folder don’t appear from their profile, but they do appear when logged from my profile. Same with collection, from my profile I worked on the data base, meta data, and I created several collections to sort things out. These collections do not appear from their profile, but they do from my profile.

Thanks,

You can check if you added some restrictions to their managed users, e.g. a restriction profile (young kid, older kid, teen) or manually set restrictions for content ratings (e.g. allow only G, PG content).

If collections derive a content rating from their content that’s not incline with your restrictions, the collection might indeed not show.

That might indeed explain things.
The thing is i’m talking about movies that are animated, cartoons like Tom & Jerry.
And looking at the files in Plex, they don’t have any ratings.
So how come the could be considered, not appropriate for the “Young Kid” or the “Older Kid” type of profile?
Am i missing a setting somewhere?

You can check the content rating of the respective show by clicking on Edit (pencil icon on the show’s poster).
With share restrictions you can either go with those “restriction profiles” or apply pretty custom restrictions (e.g. hiding everything that doesn’t have a specific Label added as Sharing Tag to the show).

Hello,

thank you.
I ended up doing this yes, changin the kid user profile to a normal one, and just custom tag the specific movies I didn’t want them to access. not perfect, but it worked.
