I’ve been running Plex for a few months now with no issues whatsoever, I had family added as friends able to access my server, i added another family member yesterday who was only able to stream for 1 minute.
She today forwarded me an email she’d received from Plex that showed me the remote streaming changes and the need for this from the 29th April.
I purchased a lifetime pass this morning but she still has the 1 minute limitation streaming my media. She’s logged out and in again.
Unfortunately until the new Plex Experience apps are released, even just you purchasing a Plex Pass won’t resolve the 1 minute limitation as that is built into the older existing apps.
For now they would need to spend the $5 to unlock the app (one time purchase).
If they are not in your Plex Home they will not get the benefit of removing one minute limit based on your Plex Pass.
If others were before you got Plex Pass, did you or one of them purchase the app and others use Apple app Family Sharing on iOS based on your/their purchase from App store and she does not? It’s the only reason off the top of my head that would explain why others could.
the other two didn’t purchase app before I purchased the Plex Pass.
The one with the limit has purchased the £5 streaming pass and all works now.
Although the email I received said this wouldn’t be necessary…
Upgrading to any Plex Pass subscription is a great option for server owners, as it ensures all users accessing the Plex Media Server can stream remotely, without an additional charge.
