This may have been answered, but since the new Remote Pass introduction. I get that not being able to stream from my 5G network on mobile, but I have friends and family that have user accounts that use plex via their PC’s and last night they were prompted to get Plex Remote Access. Is this a glitch? Follow up if I get the 20 a year remote pass will that solve the problem if it isn’t a glitch.
If they are not inside the same local network where your server is located, then they are streaming remotely.
Which means they need a Remote Watch Pass –
unless they already have a Full Plex Pass themselves
or you get a full Plex Pass for your plex account.
There is no such thing.
There is a Remote Watch Pass which is only available as a monthly or yearly subscription. But it won’t help your shared users if only you get that for yourself.
And then there is the full Plex Pass. Available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or with a one-time payment as a “lifetime” license.
If you get a full Plex Pass for yourself, all your shared users can stream remotely from your server without the need to subscribe to anything for themselves.

Thank you for the prompt response – The $20 a year I was talking about was the promotional pricing for the remote access pass…That being said one of my other users was able to watch on his TV last night and for instance he lives in Albany NY and I live in NJ so I am not sure what the deal is. I know I can’t swing $250 all in one shot for the lifetime right now.
That just means that the plex app on their TV hasn’t been updated yet, to enforce the new rules. But this will eventually happen.
