I can’t play media from from NAS on the Plex app on my Sony tv

Mind sharing some more details?
For starters… what version of Plex Media Server do you have installed on your MyCloud Home? What version of Plex are you running on your Sony TV – I suppose that’s an Android TV using the Plex for Android TV client?

The version on My Cloud is 1.18.6.2350. Yes it is an android tv and the version app is 8.18.2.25850

As for not being able to play media… how far do you actually get?
Are you able to navigate the library and it’s just failing to play a video / all videos? Or does it completely fail to see / connect to your Plex Media Server?
Are there any particular error messages?

I take it this has been working for you before, hasn’t it?

I’m not sure if this might be related to version 1.18.6 being quite old. That server version has been released nearly one and a half years ago (Feb 2020). Though there’s not much you can do about that as Plex depend on WD to make newer versions of the Plex Media Server available through their backend.

Yes when I connect through my local computer it works fine the problem only occurs when connecting through NAS.

I can navigate through to video, select it and the error comes up saying “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again”.

I can access Plex through the NAS on my iPhone and iPad it is only the tv I get the error. Wasn’t sure whether it maybe one of the settings have tried a few but it has made no difference.
