I have a WD Mycloud device when I attempt to play videos on the MyCloud Device on my Sony TV using PLEX I get the following message -
An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.
It will help if you can fill in the server and player version along with some debug logs. It’ll help us understand if you’re facing the same issue I am.
Same issue for me - Plex version on the MyCloud Home is 1.18.6.2350 - this happened after the last Android TV update for me, previously it worked fine, and I can access Plex without issues using my Roku device on another TV. What’s interesting is, the Sony will see everything and run the Plex app with no problems - it’s only the connection to the MyCloud during actual streaming of content that seems to be an issue. I keep waiting for the MyCloud to update its firmware - that is nothing I can do, unfortunately. And, once again, I’m sorry I purchased a MyCloud device…
I had an exchange of emails with WD, but they just say its a PLEX problem. they include a PLEX flyer with their products which has a WD logo on it but refuse to help.
Could be a Plex problem, could be a Sony/AndroidTV problem, but most likely is that the version of Plex that WD bundles with MyCloud needs an update - I doubt it’s as fresh as it could be. Needing WD to remotely trigger firmware updates on MyCloud devices is yet another reason I’ll never get another one nor can I recommend them to others.
