Using my iphone to control music the media server on my Mac

I’ve googled but can’t find a straight answer, so apologies if this has been asked many times before; my plex iphone mobile app has synched with my web media server music library, however I can’t work out how to control the music library on my Mac (which is connected to my hi-fi) via my phone. Therefore I can only change the music via the Plex web app which means getting up and down constantly to change it on the Mac web app. Is it possible to use my phone instead, or is this a feature I need to pay for?

thx, I read this already but I just don’t understand this - ‘flinging’ etc just goes over my head

the support articles focus too much on movies ; I just need to know if it’s possible to use the plex app on my phone to control the media server on my mac remotely to play music

yes, however you’ll need to run Plex HTPC on your desktop for it to be visible as a remote playback target.

Basically you tell the Plex app on your phone where you want to play something – be that a movie or music. When you start playing, the stream output will happen on the selected target device (receiver).
