How can I remotely control my playback on my Plex Sever?

Server Version#: 1.32.5.7349
Player Version#: 4.113.2

Hi everyone,

First, I would like to apologize since this is my first topic, and I have been wondering around the forum, and also external forums searching for help on this topic, but have not been able to.

Basically, my set up now is an Intel NUC working as my plex server, which is connected to a TV and a home theatre. Usually, I watch movies and listen to music there. What I’m looking for is a way to control the playback on the NUC from another device (iPhone, iPad, laptop, etc.)

I don’t want to cast nor connect remotely to the server (like RDP) to select an album or song.

I’m just looking for a functionality similar to what Spotify does, that detects the playback on my NUC and lets me control it from the app on my iPhone or laptop.

Does this feature exist on Plex? If it is, I have not been able to find it, so that’s the reason for the post. Is there any external app that might help me with this?

Looking forward for your replies on this.

Again, sorry if this is already detailed on an article.

Regards,
Nacho.

Plex DocumentationCasting, Flinging, & Remote Control

The Overview support document describes how the process works.

Install “Plex HTPC” on the NUC. Additionally to Plex server.

Thank you so much @OttoKerner . I went through the documentation and articles and it was not detailed I needed Plex HTPC to have this feature enabled.
Thanks again, I’m enjoying my music using my phone as remote control as I write this :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

If this is primarily about music, I recommend using Plexamp instead. Both on NUC and on phone.
