Hello, is there a way to play my plex server movies in vlc on nvidia shield? I know there is a way to play videos from plex to an external player in android…
But is it also possible to do it on an android tv ? Could find anything related to it in the plex app in my nvidia shield tv pro 2019.
Unfortunately not.
Is there at least a way the change the subtitles coding in the plex shield’s app?
Not sure what you mean by that? Change what?
To change a subtitle coding that i have in one of my movies in the plex server …like to change to UTF 8 or to a different coding …
You should do that before adding them into your collection. All subtitles in SRT format need to be encoded in UTF-8 in order to work correctly on all Plex client types.
There are tools which can do that in batch mode.
Yeah i know, but that would of course take a long time for me to do it for each movies, i thought the the known plex app should have that setting…
That would be so frustrating for me to do that now for each of me movies…
Then is there at least an option to change the plex language? Let me tell you why i ask this, im from israel, and i use hebrew subtitles in my movies, and unfortunately when plex plays my subs in my movies , the dots (.) Are on the wrong side of the line, for expample it shows the dot like this: “היי.” Insted of: .היי" which is the right side, this issue can be fixed if i can change the subtitle coding to ISO 8859-8, if there is no way to do that, then i belive if changing the app’s language to hebrew, it might play the subtitles in the correct coding…did you understand me ? I tried explain it the best way i can.
For instance Subtitle Edit
You can let it loose on a whole drive worth of subtitles and it will churn through them and convert them all if you let it.
I am pretty sure this won’t work with all Plex client types.
AFAIK the Plex app language is dependent on the language setting of the whole Android device.
Could you please
- put one of your subtitle files into a zip archive
- send it to me per PM
Developers would like to have a real world example to recreate.
I didnt said it worked in my other plex client, i was saying that if an option like that would be available, it would be so convenient, for example in my android i play my movies in an external player (had to purchase a plex lass for it!), which is vlc, which of course does have the option to change subtitles coding, so …i figured that option to play movies in external player is also available on android tv’s… which of course for some unknown reason its not available… i tried changing the apps language by changing the language in the android tv settings…didnt workes aswell…ill upload the subtitles as into a zip file and ill sent it to you in PM…
Thank you for the subtitle file!
I have forwarded it to the developers.
