Server Version#: V.1.18.7.2457
Player Version#: Web
Tried to update to V.1.18.7.2457 this evening on my Synology DS418play NAS, but after the update my libraries were showing up as offline. I could log into the Plex server, but only had access to the default media they offer through the interface.
The file I downloaded through the Plex Interface was called “PlexMediaServer-1.18.7.2457-77cb9455c-x86_64”. I also tried installing this same file by downloading this version directly from the Plex website with the same results.
Steps I performed:
Downloaded the file through the Plex interface which prompts you to “Please install manually”.
Performed a manual update through the NAS Package Center.
Tested by launching Plex. Noticed my libraries were offline.
Rebooted the NAS.
Tested the Plex server again. No change.
Manually reinstalled the update.
Tested the Plex. No Change.
Downloaded the file from the Plex site directly and manually installed it. No change.
Scratched head.
Uninstalled Plex from the NAS, then re-installed the default Synology version that was available (V.16.5.1552-8e8d0c785).
Tested Plex. Everything working 100% with the older version.
Posted here to see if anyone else is having this issue.
I tried attaching what I have but the file size is too large. Probably because they were recently migrated from my Win10 workstation to the NAS (using your instructions, thank you by the way), and it was running for a very long time on the Win10 box. I have posted them to a google drive that you can probably access here:
To focus on the specific NAS install logs, I can perform the following tomorrow if you think it will help troubleshooting. Let me know when you can:
Uninstall Plex from the NAS
Delete/rename the old log files.
Re-install Plex (default Synology version)
Verify everything is ok.
Upgrade to this latest version to recreate the issue (should happen again).
Capture the logs and post them here before I revert back to the original version again.
I wanted to give you an update. Everything is working now!
I am not sure, but since the most significant step I performed was doing away with the old logs before re-install, they may have been the root of the problem to begin with originally.
I performed the following steps:
Uninstalled Plex
Re-named the logs folder
Created a new Logs folder
Re-installed default version (V.16.5.1552-8e8d0c785)
Verified everything was working.
Upgraded to the latest version (V.1.18.7.2457-77cb9455c)
Verified everything was working
Thank you so much for all your help (previous guides/posts on how to migrate to NAS and this latest issue)! You rock.
