Then I am not sure… If your server says it can stream original, and your plex client says it can stream original when remote, that should be all that matters I would think… Someone else will have to continue to help out…
Thanks for trying!
Actually, I just thought of something… if you look at your server settings, can you see if you have a green light on remote access? It’s possible you’re connected via plex relay, instead of directly to your server, and if that’s the case, I believe the limit on the upload speed is 1mbps (still more than would be required for music files, but worth a look at)
Have green check mark, with message that “Fully accessible outside your network”.
Ahh well, worth a shot… Hopefully you can get this sorted, I am super picky about my music too! lol
I’m almost certain it is something on Verizon Wireless side, because I only have issues when connected directly to their mobile network. If I turn on my VPN, then it works (with certain connections), and when on wifi, it works perfect as well. My best guess is I am being throttled when using Plex, which would really suck, because I only use it for my music library when away from home. Thanks again for the help. If anyone else has any other ideas or thoughts, or can point me to something in the logs that shows that I am being throttled, I would appreciate it.
plex relay, great point.
it won’t show up on the server connection, its not the server that is being blocked.
most likely I believe that verizon is essentially double nat’ing your phone connection, so that the only way plex on your phone can connect to your server is via plex relay.
because your vpn goes out to the vpn server, then the connection goes from the vpn outbound to your server, it avoids the relay connection.
So new twist, I just opened Plex on my phone’s browser, and it seems to be playing HiFi Tidal tracks when connected to my Verizon account. So this seems to be an issue with my Android Plex app. Does anyone know what might be the issue, or how to fix this?
Also, I notice every time a new track begins, the HIFI symbol shows for a split second, then disappears. This is when using the Android app on my Pixel 2 XL. When I use the web player on my phone’s Chrome browser, the HIFI symbol stays on, so I am assuming that it is playing the high quality audio, and not a limited version.
Last update, my videos all play at full quality (1080p) when connected to both Wifi and Verizon Wireless network, with no transcoding. I have checked multiple file types (MP4, HEVC), so it seems to be just a music thing, and only when connected to my Verizon Wireless network. I am more confused than ever!
Can you play something again and get me a new log? Let me know what you were playing so we can focus on this specific item to see what’s going on.
Is this only with Tidal or your music content too?
I have downgraded to a previous version of Plex. Per some other forums, people on Android have been experiencing this type of issue on newer versions of the app. Since downgrading to .16, it is working fine.
