Very strange behavior Plex App on Samsung (2014) TV

Server Version#: 1.19.2.2673
Player Version#: Smart Hub Plex App 2.012
TV: Samsung UA55H6400 H-Series 2014

For about 6 months I had been running a slightly older PMS version on a WD MyPassport Pro all over Wifi, Samsung Plex TV app worked fine. Recently upgraded to a Synology DS1019+, moved all my media onto there, installed latest Plex Server Version, cleaned up the DB, Plex app on the phone sees everything, Roku Ultra on another TV sees every but the Samsung TV app is being very weird.

It sees the new server fine, I have removed the old one from the account. The home screen of the app now has no content, just menu down the side. TV Shows library works fine, can go into it, see all the content in grid view as expected.

Movie library it will either see nothing, it says it gets no response from the server or just hangs. For a little while it did see the content but would only display it in list view not grid view. But after reinstalling the app it has gone back to just either a grey screen or saying there is no response. But I can see the TVs IP address in the request via the console.

Music library is says no response from the server. Dont care too much about this one.

Recommended section says “Request could not be completed. The requested item could not be found”

Search works and can find anything on the server, I can search for movies, it finds them with their poster and all.

I thought maybe it is a permissions issue but all these library folders are subfolders of the same folder, TV shows works but the others don’t. And anything that is driven from the account level like Recommended, Playlist or Watch Later do not work.

I’ve reinstalled the app, reset the app, reset the TV, tried linking to different accounts (pointing to the same server) all the same. If it isn’t permissions maybe the app and this version of PMS just don’t play together well?

Any help or advice appreciated. Can post pics.

@casewood See this thread Version 1.19.1.2645 Server broke Samsung access

Thanks, but that is a different problem and versions, the thread goes into discussion on the beta release which I don’t have. I figure it is server version incompatibility with my old tv though. I find it strange the Movie section would kind of populate sometimes and only in certain views and now not at all. It is interesting to me that things partially work. I can search for a movie and play it, but cannot view it from movies section. Things like that. It is more navigational problems than not being able to access the server at all.

1.19.2.2673 is the broken one!

Oh so it is. I assumed mine was not a beta version since I got it from this download page: https://www.plex.tv/en-au/media-server-downloads/#plex-media-server page.

I just downloaded the Synology Intel 64-bit spk again and the version in the file name suggests it is later than this one.

PlexMediaServer-1.19.2.2702-776106bc6-x86_64.spk

But Plex says it is up to date @ Version 1.19.2.2673

On the download page, there’s a slider to enable PlexPass builds or not

Oh I see so that’s why it hasn’t pushed 1.19.2.2702 then, 1.19.1.2701 being the most recent non-Plex Pass build available. New to this obviously

For anyone interested I rolled the server back to most recent public release Version 1.19.1.2701, everything working again now on my Samsung TV.
