Server Version#: 1.28.2.6151
Player Version#: Plex for LG 5.45.3, Plex for Android TV (Nvidia Shield) 9.8.0.34993
Since my plex server updated recently I have noticed very strange behaviour on the home screen when navigating around when a TV show thumbnail is selected where the info displayed at the top of the screen doesn’t match the actual item. I have checked this on both my Nvidia Shield app and also the Plex App for my LG TV.
Items showing in “Recently Added in TV Shows” line which are single episodes are fine. The data shown above gives the show name, episode title, season and airdate synopsis.
But if the item is for a multiple amount of entries (say for example 3 episodes have all been added and it shows the correct thumbnail and the marker for 3 unplayed episodes, but the text information above is for a completely different TV show. This text is exactly the same for any entry in the “Recently Added in TV Shows” that is shown as multiple items. In my case it is identifying them all as “City on a Hill / Take Me Home”. This in on the NVidia Shield app. The Plex for LG app is slightly different - on the thumbnail with the focus (that is for multiple episodes/items) it just shows “Season (n)”. It doesn’t display show title or any other data other than the season number.
If I actually go into the item it displays the correct information - this is happening only on the home screens “Recently Added in TV Shows” section.
I have checked on the plexserver itself and all the metadata is correct, and PlexWeb is showing the “Recently Added in TV” section correctly. So this is only happening on apps connecting to the server.
I have tried rebooting the server, uninstalling and reinstalling the apps on the NVidia Shield and Plex TV and this hasn’t solved the problem. I have also cleared the cache and data and relogged back into the apps and still the problem is occuring.
As 2 different apps are having the same issue (but displaying slightly different things) I think this may be a server issue. But it could also be an app issue if they are not reading correct info from the server.
I have just discovered this issue is not limited to the “Recently Added in TV Shows” section on the home screen.
The same is happening if you go into the TV Shows section and select the Recommended option at the top.
The “Recently Added in TV Shows” section and the “Start Watching” section and in fact all sections don’t display the correct details in the top text area for any item which links to multiple seasons/episodes.
For example in my “Start Watching” section I move across the list of thumbnails (Ransom / Fantasy Island / The Invaders / Collateral etc) but the text shown above is “Fantasy Island (2021), 2021 43m Fantasy, Drama TV-14 and then the series synopsis”. If I have Ransom highlighted it shows the above text, same if I have The Invaders highlighted.
Same things happens in the “Rediscover” section. The thumbnails I have are (Inside No.9 / Game On / The Two Ronnies / He-Man /Doctor Who etc). But the text shown above when you scroll across each one is the text for The Two Ronnies.
But what I have now noticed is that the text for all items in the row is being taken from the 3rd item in the row from the start! That is also the case on the home screen. The third item along from the start is “City on a Hill S3 E5” and that is the text being displayed for all items in the list as I scroll along that is actually a link to a season. Only items which are individual episodes are displaying the correct details.
Thanks for letting me know. I did try to see if this was known about but because its an odd one the keywords I used didn’t return anything.
I asked someone who uses my library remotely (he uses a Samsung TV) and he was getting the same issue. So I take it from reading that other thread that it’s some change on the server that has caused this?
this is the first time I have heard it happening on LG. I did think it was probably only an Android problem since that is what all the other reports were on. it may be a server issue then ( or both apps are making incorrect requests to server)
If you need me to provide anything from the LG to aid tracking it down then just ask. As you say (and I mentioned too) I thought it may be server side related - but if it’s both server and app then it makes it harder to sort.
