I followed the naming convention according to Plex's instructions. For a TV series called Pride and Prejudice from 1995, it appears in the Movies section instead of the TV Shows section. The main problem I have with this is you cannot easily jump between the TV show episodes. It thinks it's a movie so in order to get to the last episode, I have to start the "movie," and keep clicking to the end of that video, which plex seems to think it's a CD or part of the "movie" until I get to the right episode. I'm going crazy since I see the videos in TV shows, but the scanners keep picking it up as Movie. Any thoughts?
This should never happen if your files are organised correctly.
Sounds like your movies and tv shows are sharing a common folder on your hard drive. As per the the Plex guidelines you should separate these into separate folders: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200381023-Naming-Movie-files
Don't forget you will also need to put the year after the show like it says here. ie. Pride and Prejudice (1995), otherwise you'll end up with one of the other Pride and Prejudice tv shows as the description. Defaults to the earliest if there is no year, I think..
@drzoidberg33 That’s why I posted this question because my TV shows are in a separate folder. I only have a few TV shows so it’s easy to see that Pride and Prejudice the TV show is in my TV show folder but the agent seems to think it’s a Movie.
I’m having the same problem:
- separate folder structures (Video/Movies vs. Video/TV)
- year is in the folder name (Pride and Prejudice (1995))
- year is in the file names (Pride.and.Prejudice.1995.Bluray.720p.DTS.x264-CHD.E01.mkv)
I can provide an ls -R output to make it clear if that would help.
I’m running Ubuntu 16.04.2, PMS 1.7.5 64-bit.
2019 and i have this problem still. with the same show price and prejudice 1995
