Video freezing intermittently - Plex Xbox One

I'm running into issues where every 15-20 mins my movie is freezing.  Pressing 'b' to back out and then immediately resuming play gets the video up and running again where it froze.

Happens whether I'm watching a 480p, 720p, 1080p mkv.

My Plex Media Server is running off a i5 Macbook Pro and wired gigabit network.

Anyone else experiencing this issues with the Xbox One Plex native app?

Got the same issue over here with a MacBook unibody. Also with MKV and it drives me crazy! Have it with web player, apple tv and the iPhone app.

Having the same issue on 4 separate Xbox One's in separate locations. 1 on the same network as the Synology server running Plex, and 3 others in other States. Samsung Smart Hub Plex app plays 1080p 24fps 5.1dts  flawlessly at all the locations. So I think something is wrong with the Xbox One Plex app.

Same issue here. Really annoying to be watching a movie and 22 minutes in this happens. Back to Blu-Ray until this and the dimming issue is resolved. Grrr.

My server is located on a Dell desktop running Windows 8.1

I've been having the same problem with MKV files. MP4's seem to work fine without problems. My server is also running Windows 8.1 and I have the videos on an external USB drive.

Interesting. I wonder if it has to do with the Xbox not having native MKV support (yet). They said later in the year, so I suppose that's been pushed back, if on the table at all?

All my files are MKV as MakeMKV makes the process so simple. Don't have to deal with converting anything and let PMS do the brain-work. :)

Edit: apparently X1 has MKV support now. Not sure what the issue may be.

Having the same problem all over the board.

I am also using a Win 8.1 machine as my server.

Got the same problem.

I've @ My home 2 Smart TV from samsung wich plays everthing flawless.

But with XBOX One app the video is shuttering constanly. Is it getting the files locally from the network or trough the network.

On My samsung Tv i can set the ip adress from the server. But in the Xbox One app there is no such option.

All my files are MKV

The Xbox app isn’t doing the transcoding. Its getting the stream from the media server which is doing the hard work. If the server can’t transcode it fast enough or send it to the Xbox fast enough then the file will stop to buffer.

Seems odd that so many users would experience the same issue under similar circumstances where it worked before. It's possible the PC can't transcode it fast enough but I doubt that is the true issue. I intend to build a HTPC early next year to avoid these issues in my home theater, but that doesn't resolve the problem for every other box in the house.

MKV support has been available since the October update on the Xbox One. But since so many people are having problems, under different environments and only on the XO Plex app, I’m assuming something is wrong there. Perhaps have Plex PMS always transcode, and see if that helps.
