Video player crashes when network goes up and down

Server Version#: offline - not relevant - 18.5
Player Version#: 2025.16.0 1068
Sorry. No logs. I’ll update if I can.

Here how to reproduce error.
1/ download your videos to watch them offline
2/ go happily on vacation, hopping to watch them while travelling
3/ while travelling, your 4G network goes up and down, as always.
4/ each time the network comes back from being disconnected, the player tries to reconnect to the server, even if playing vidéos previously downloaded and therefore not requiring connection to the server (no streaming involved)
=> the player restarts the video from the start…

To resolve this : let your phone on plane mode while watching your downloaded video

Am I the only one facing this ?

Not a lot of follow up here.

Team Plex, have you even noticed ?

I am having the same issue!

Same issue on Android too. The media doesn’t play from the beginning though, it reverts to the last place you “set off” from (i.e. if I am half way through a movie and fire it up, when your signal goes down/up and causes the reset, it’ll suddenly loop back to the half way point you started that watch session from.

I found myself exiting when I knew my signal was spotty, then firing it up again. Thus moving the reset point along each time.

You are right
In fact, that’s what happens to me too
I wasn’t in a position to start my viewing half way through, and only from the beginning.
But I tried with a film that I paused somewhere during the film, exited the app, opened back and started back, then flipping the network would each time get me back to that point.

So indeed, we are not alone.

Hi all! I am happy to report that this is currently captured in our ticketing system and has been assigned and has a high priority to work on so there should be some fixes coming here in a future update. Thanks for the reports, we appreciate them!
