We just go through posts as they appear. They are logged in Github if it is an actual bug. Unfortunately some things do just get missed because of the shear amount of new topics being created each day.

I’ll see if this is known about already. and make a bug report if not

I just installed and tested the latest server version PlexMediaServer-1.30.0.6359.
This issue was not listed as one of the fixes, hence, no surprise that the issue persists. Just sayin.

Unfortunately I don’t expect it to be a quick fix. I do see the bug report was added to a group of persistent ones the devs are trying to tackle.

I too have noticed that the issue is that thumbnails seem to be generated during scheduled tasks only, rather than immediately after recording. I just posted about it on the other thread. No thumbnails since Version 1.29.1.6316? Not deleting older recordings?

Server: Version 1.29.2.6364, OS: Ubuntu 22.04.1, current on updates.
Player: Roku 7.0.19.8058-54d0393d3-Plex

Upgraded to Version 1.30.0.6442.
Issue still remains. Recording Live-TV still does not automatically generate thumbnails. You must still wait till overnight processing.

Not only that…

Manual analyzing, to create thumbnails, is hit or miss.
In other words:

  • For a newly recorded show that has NOT been watched, when I click “analyze” there is no indication/no progress that anything is happening and no thumbnails are created.
  • For a newly recorded show that HAS been partially watched (within “continue watching”), clicking analyze does work and creates thumbnails.

I am still running 1.29.0.6244. I would religiously update before this. Now I don’t even care, as long as things keep working.

There are so many releases – do you guys actually read the notes to see if fixed, or just install, check and roll back if not?

I always read the release notes before applying updates, then test after the update.

Can someone on this thread experiencing this issue try the new version and confirm?

I’ve been running version 1.30.2.6563 for a few days and this issue does seem to be fixed. Several days this week I watched recorded episodes of local and nightly news a couple hours after recording (prior to nightly library analysis) and the video preview thumbnails were in place as expected (this had not been working recently prior to updating to this version).

Happy to see this fixed!
