Recently Plex for Vizio has not been working with server hosted content but will play streaming and live TV. While attempting a watch of SD content on the server noticed the following error:
“Unable to find client profile for device; platform=Vizio SmartCast, PlatformVersi…”
There also appears to be a number of XML errors that occur but don’t necessarily seem to be associated with any client in particular:
“XML: Entity: line 1:
XML: parser
XML: error :
XML: Start tag expected, ‘<’ not found
XML: status=ok
XML: ^
…”
and repeats
Is there a way to remedy this issue? Is it player or server side?
Can’t help with the Vizio problems. I don’t have one.
Regarding the error messages:
You can ignore this error. Plex no longer uses profile files for Smart TV clients. However, the Plex Media Server software still checks and logs a message.
You can ignore these as well.
Plex, like many applications, uses SSDP to discover devices on the network.
Some devices on the network respond in a format Plex does not understand. When that happens, the software logs an error.
It is noise and fills the logs with unnecessary entries. Hopefully the Plex devs can find a way to suppress them.
