My plex app on vizio tv no longer runs. It just sits at startup screen forever, then goes black. It was working before. I’ve had alot of troubles with this tv app and it’s the only reason I got a smart tv.
Also when my media server pc reboots for like updates or something I can never use the tv app cause it won’t connect or find the server, maybe because it’s updating the library I don’t know but it’s really bad.
I don’t think it should matter if signed in or not just if it’s on the network, what if Internet is down I cant watch my media?
So overall terrible experience so far, but I’d like to at least get the app working again cause now it just freezes and does nothing no errors either.
I just bought a d65u and was excited to have native plex onboard the tv. Having the same issue. Network is hard wired and solid - was streaming UHD amazon content without issue… Plex version is 2.4.36. Have uninstalled and re-authorized several times… First issue I’ve ever really had with plex
I have a Samsung smart tv, whatever model and honestly I spent about 10 minuets with the Plex app and had so many issues I ditched it all together and just grabbed a Chromecast and the Chromecast V2 has huge improvements and the 12mbs limit was recently removed and… its $35. I don’t know about it’s UHD functionality, but it’s worked flawlessly.
I am having an issue with Plex on a new Vizio TV I got my girls for Christmas. Out of the box it set up quickly and Plex was working great. I have several Family members that use the Plex account in various parts of the country and all have content to share. I have no issues connecting to their servers\content, it is the local server on my network that is giving me issues. I have the largest library so that is why this poses a problem. I changed servers to any remote server and I can connect and view the content. When I try to connect to the local server the screen goes blank and nothing happens, I left it for hours one day. In troubleshooting I connected the TV to the hotspot on my phone and then I was able to connect to My server\content, no longer local. Any Ideas?
In troubleshooting I created a user account called Everybody, added all libraries to that user and it started working on my Vizio TV. I also put a pin on the main account. Sync is off, Camera upload is off, Channels are off under restrictions. I’m not sure if you can create users without the Plex Pass. Let me know if this works for you.
I’m probably just going to cancel plex pass and buy another chromecast. Disappointing, the main feature I wanted was smart tv apps. And when there’s issues/bugs they go unresolved by the development team or addressed in forums by staff, so not worth the $$. If they want hands off support they need to fix bugs and have rigorous QA/testing so catch these issues or resolve them not leave them in production for several months.
