I am a Plex Pass member and have been using Voice Detection since it was released but have noticed across a lot of media that it has not been working. I looked at my logs when it is detecting voice activity and noticed the following error:
[VoiceActivityDetectionManager] MDE: unable to find a working transcode profile for video stream
I have followed some other suggestions like stopping Plex Media Server, deleting “Codecs” and restarting. Even with the new codecs the same issue persists. I have included the logs below. I have not had any permissions related issues with Plex.
That log message isn’t indicative or anything wrong, it just means there is no transcode target for the video which is correct as we’re only transcoding the audio.
If you are having issues with some media then first try and analyze it, then open the Get Info dialog for it and check the state of Has Voice Activity, e.g.
