Want to create folders within a library

I want to create a folder called “Movies” and share it via Plex. Within that folder, I want sub-folders called “Sci-Fi”, “Drama”, “Comedy”, etc. so when you navigate to the "Movies’ folder in the Plex App (Roku), you then select the type of movie you are looking for.

Currently, I can create a “Movie” folder in windows and subfolders within that folder, but when it is accessed by Plex all the movies are jumbled together instead of getting a list of subfolders to choose from.

Is this possible?

The work around is to create a different Plex “library” for each type, but that is cumbersome.

That’s not really a great solution. A much better way of doing this is with Collections.

This is how I have it organised.

A friend has it this way for example

Perfect. Exactly what I wanted.

You could use the Genre filter from the Library Bar as well. In a library, select the “All” menu from the Library Bar in the upper left hand corner of the library window. You can select Genre and then select the Genre you’re looking for. This uses the power of Plex’s metadata lookup. No setup necessary.

Pretty cool feature I think.
