WARNING to OLED TV owners!

The new music player from PLEX uses static square box for graphics, in the center of the screen. OLED TV backlight is made from organic materials, and this bright square box will burn them. There will be dark square in the center of the screen on all your movies and TV programs. The old music player screen was changing all the time, boxes were moved from left to right and back, to prevent screen damage. The only repair for this damage is to burn the rest of the screen. It doesn’t work 100% and makes your TV less bright.
This damage may occur just after few days of using PLEX player for music.

turn the screen off while playing music

Yes, turn the screen off for 3 minutes, then on to find next song, and so on.
Or spend an hour to create list, and play it forever, every day the same.
PLEX music player is about convenience and easy access to songs, whenever you want to find something quickly or change your mind and play different music.
Switching screen off is not practical and oppose the whole idea of PLEX.
Where is the metadata about songs and pefrormers, when you have your screen off?
The previous version of player was perfect, combination of screen saver and useful information.
Somebody decided, it needs to improve. What was actually improved? Can not even play surround music, because the new player does not support it! What is the advantage of better graphic if you can not see it, because your screen is off. OLED TV costed me 3,500 dollars.
Would you risk such an investment, and use PLEX player, constantly switching screen on and off?

Have you heard of a Tablet or smart phone? Using a large device for music does not make sense. If using a receiver most modern receivers have apps as controllers. Plex also have apps for these types of devices.

Yes, I love to listen to surround music using my tablet!
What you are talking about?
Receivers do have screens to display the song lists? That is something new to me.

So why are you using your TV?

Because I can stream 5.1 channels music to every room in the house using TV and surround sound receiver. PLEX was perfect solution, but no more. Now I need to put computer with monitor beside every surround sound receiver, and can not even use remote control for song selection, because computer monitor is to small to read from distance, and most computers are not remotely controlled.

Which receiver are you using?

I have Onkyo and Denon.

its a non issue… on the LGs press the mic button the remote, then say ‘turn off screen’ its instant off and instant back on when you need.

Many Onkyo and Denon have Apps to control Receivers

Not and issue for you! So why would you care?
Can you answer why PLEX had to change perfectly good software?

I am not going to buy new receivers. And how are you going to stream music from PLEX directly to ONKYO receiver?

your complaining of a static image on sound… Seriously if you own an LG OLED its stupid easy to turn of the display if its not needed. The turn off and back on is instant.

The image is needed. Just not static, like it was in old PLEX player!

why is an image needed for music?

It displays current song, the next song, and you can change selection, read metadata e.t.c.
That what PLEX is all about, isn’t it. Otherwise why would you need PLEX?

Network receivers

Give me an example. Again I am not going to buy expensive hardware to fix problems with PLEX player. There are some other solutions. My point is: why to change good player for something useless?

There are many of us who have CEC set up so that powering up the receiver automatically powers up the entire system. So the TV is on anyway. It’s not unreasonable to use Plex on the TV to play music to your receiver via optical/HDMI. And maybe the OP likes to see the cover art.

It’s kind of weird to have OP ask a question and get a bunch of replies of “you’re doing it wrong” simply because it’s not the way you do it.
