When I’m out and about and I want to add something to my watch list on my phone I can’t if I select recommended and hold on a title it gives me the option to add to watch list but if i click browse or search for a pacific title and hold on to it it seems there is no option to add to watch list
I guess you’re writing about the new mobile apps on iOS or Android? Which exact version of the app do you currently have installed on your phone?
I can find the option to add a movie to my watchlist in a number of scenarios you’ve mentioned:

There’s a player beta and public releases which will be different versions. Also, Plex usually performs staged rollouts of their apps on Android, so what’s the latest for you, might be a bit dated.
Version 2025.17.0 is the current public release and where I was able to find the option as listed in my previous post (same on today’s beta update for 2025.18.0).
And just to clarify… if you click on the same movie from a different view, you get to see the missing options?
From what I can see, it’s not just the Add to Watchlist commands but also the option to rate/review a movie, check out more ways to watch or share. Almost looks like there might be an issue with the movie not being matched (hence not having those options) or certain online media sources / discover features being disabled?!

Most of the movies if i hold them the option to add them to the watch list isn’t available but odd ones are available same with tv show box set
Can you check if those are matched?
e.g. if you’re using Plex Web… is there an option to Fix Match or Match on the items missing the Add to Watchlist option?
If they’re unmatched, you can’t use them in the context of any Discover features (which includes the universal watchlist).
Yes that worked i picked a film with add to watch list not available and click fix match and now it’s available

You can filter your library for Unmatched items. That should make it easier to catch up on those not working properly.
Generally, Plex should be able to match the vast majority of movies you throw at it… if you stick to the naming schema and/or provide it with hints where necessary (e.g. Movie Title (year) or Movie Title (year) {imdb-tt1234567}). As you just found, you can also manually fix items that didn’t properly match right away.
