Watch Together ANDROID BROKEN CONSTANT OPUS TRANSCODE

Server Version#: v1.40.2.8395-c67dce28e

Been having nonstop issues on Watch together. Sometimes it will buffer a lot now…cant rewind as I used to. It makes no bloody sense.

Above was playing fine…paused the movie for 1 minute…resumed…and bam…yellow circle of death

Pausing and resuming randomly will make Plex suddenly try to HW Transcode a stream that is Direct Play on the client to “No Direct Play profile” in the log and try to suddenly do bizzare stuff like detect files incorrectly…see pics.

It randomly chose OPUS and ASS for subtitle for transcoding despite the client being able to handle EAC3 5.1 AND SRT…WTF. IF it does work after a lot of BS…it will show me a black screen and even if I LEAVE the app…the sound of the movie KEEPS PLAYING. If i force close Plex on Shield…sound stops 8 seconds letter.

I assumed perhaps it was a transcoder issue…but this never used to happen before. Color me shocked if Plex screwed up something again.

Fyi the server has GPU transcoding…so I doubt the issue is my server or transcoding abilities. I NEVER used to have these issues…

Maybe speed problems with the connection. I had that behavior when switched automatic conversion feature on - then running into bandwidth problems via remote access.

But your playback seems to be local (maybe WiFi-related?), or maybe it has something to do with how Plex server behaves when asking for a movie to resume (ie. starting a playback at a certain point of time rather than starting it from the beginning).

Do you have this problem also if watching from another type of client? Plex Web or some other?

Didnt seem to happen on Plex Web on PC but that kind of proves my point may be Android app. Doubt its the connection whatsoever though. Its ethernet direct link. I thank you for your reply though. This isnt the first time they introduced a weird bug

Same thing always happening with WATCH TOGETHER. This time with a movie “border” simple H.264 + EAC3 5.1 which Shield and TV 1000% support. Was* direct playing randomly during stream switched to OPUS and “Transcode” halting the watch together.

It keeps trying to switch to OPUS and transcode…then it fails to immediately transcode. I have a NVIDIA GPU in the server btw…which is insanely OP for this to be pausing like this.

I attached 2 instances - across 2 different NVIDIA SHIELD devices and TV’s where this KEEPS happening. CONSTANTLY. It tries to say the audio is OPUS. You all BROKE Android app FOR WATCH TOGETHER. PLEASE FIX IT!

@Justina_plex

There is no way I’m the only one with this issue x_x

Watch together has completely stopped working again. NVIDIA Shield

Still happening…for christs sake…is Team Plex SLEEPING at the wheel here? I provided full logs guys…

Do we have a fix incoming? Or maybe at least the acknowledgement of the issue beeing worked on?

Constant OPUS audio transcoding on the shield (never had a problem before) subtitles are also completely ruining playback (never had a problem with subtitles on the shield before) and watch together completely broken. Seriously WTF is going on?

If you guys didn’t have the watch together feature I’d be long gone from plex by now. This is seriously frustrating. At least give us an OLD build version that fixes the issues? Every update is making things worse.

Still nothing from PLEX???

Sadly I don’t think Plex really cares…
