Server Version#: 1.32.0.6973 on Unraid
Player Version#: 9.17.0.xxxxx 9.20.x.xxxxx 9.21.x.xxxxx
I have reproduced a weird scenario using the latest PLEX server 1.32.0.6973 with the following:
Android Mobile / FireTV Player versions 9.20.x.xxxxx 9.21.x.xxxxx will not allow Managed Accounts to initiate a Watch Together - Clicking (…) and Watch Together resulted in “error has occured please try again later”.
Latest Plex Web Version 4.104.2 = OK (Managed Users can initiate Watch Together)
Latest Plex IOS Version = OK (Managed Users can initiate Watch Together)
By chance, my Mobile Device was still in 9.17.X.XXXXX and Watch together works for Managed Users.
My temporary solution was to download kepler-armv7a-amazon-9.17.0.38819-d37d0eb2.apk and kepler-armv7a-googlePlay-9.17.0.38819-d37d0eb2.apk / kepler-arm64v8a-googlePlay-9.17.0.38819-d37d0eb2.apk to restore functionality for Watch Together for Home Users.
On a side note, the Admin account works normally for Watch Together for any version above on Plex Web, IOS, and Android.
I am also having this problem, and I have some more details. I think there’s something wrong with the account that I can’t see. The problem happens on 2 different shield TV boxes (on on the same network as the server, the other is remote). But it only happens on the one managed account.
I created a new managed user and that new user can start a “watch together”. I can’t see what would be different about this new user from the old one. I tried to make the user as much like the old one as I could (same access to the same libraries, etc.). I would just switch them over to the new managed account and delete the old one, except that would lose the watch history.
In my case, creating a new Managed User does not resolve the problem and the new Home User gets the error message when clicking Watch Together - the new user doe snot get a chance to invite anyone.
The Home User can watch the Plex Library independently without issues.
The main admin account can invite the Home User to the Watch Together function.
So the main beef for me is the Home User cannot initiate a Watch Together session (no invitation subscreen) on Android or FireTV. Same Home User can use Watch Together on the most up-to-date IOS app and WEB app.
For the sake of thoroughness, I will retest your scenario and create a new Home User and get back to you guys.
You can go to the forum beta players and download the 9.17.x.xxxxx APK and it should work. Mine does.
I just checked with a newly created Home User via Android. The new Home User cannot initiate Watch Together. I am using Plex for Android 9.21.x.xxxxx. Same Home User can initiate Watch Together via Pllex Web and latest IOS app.
