I really like Emby but the biggest issue I see is their lack of dedication to IOS/tvOS. People have been asking for the Apple TV app to auto-switch to HDR for a long time now, but it’s something they still haven’t implemented. Think they really only have a single IOS/tvOS developer as their main focus appears to be Android.
Ah, I didn’t know this was an issue. Yeah it’s mostly one or two guys over there I think. Development is definitely slower but still the best alternative to Plex.
I use infuse on iOS / Apple TV. It isn’t free but it really is that good.
I still think Plex looks the best visually (with infuse being the exception), but for those that want an out Emby is their best bet.
I wish we had more options but we unfortunately don’t.
Yeah, I have Infuse installed as well and use it - but without multi-user support it doesn’t cover all my needs unfortunately.
My biggest problem with it too actually! Everything else feels close to perfect. I use it on my devices but for shared devices I make kids and guests use the official apps (plex).
This is actually how I feel about some of the Plex apps. Things like feature parity and a consistent experience between apps was one of the things they parroted the last time they revamped the interface, but in execution lots of that didn’t really happen.
It gave the impression they were an open source project (like Jellyfin) and lacked any control over their own employees.
Follow these instructions:
Just replace “Plex HPC” in the path of the initial step with just “Plex”
Will the windows app still support watch together ‘for the forseeable future’ since it’s basically just the web app in a wrapper?
Edit: support says it’ll be removed -___-
Might be an idea, idk why they would do that its the best feature they ever added to Plex lol, its kinda dumb to go backward for prolly crappy functionnality we dont even care, i dont see a single new features that will make it better, beside maybe a better watch together experience and being able to watch few TV series episode in a row without having to set a watch together after every episode
Has Plex said when Watch Together feature will be removed from the TV apps?
Watch Together is removed from the current iOS app. I am extremely disappointed in Plex for this. I regret purchasing my Plex Pass. Bring back Watch Together!
Very disappointed and bad decision. It allowed everyone to feel more connected when not together. This should be a supported feature for plex pass. Seems more features continue to go away that people want.
Just discovered that this feature is missing on my iPad and iPhone as my app updated in the background a couple days ago. My son and I use this feature every week. Super disappointed that it’s been removed. Please bring back as soon as possible.
This is a really important functionality of a good streaming app, and the decision to end it was very inconsiderate of the many people who use or depend on it…
This was ludicrous to remove. You need to listen to the feedback. Stop your corporate greed and reinstate a feature that is used by many. Lifetime member for a long time and not amused at all.
Any ways to create smart playlists in jellyfin similar to plex? Probably the only thing keeping me away right now
I genuinely have no idea who is in charge at Plex who makes these baffling decisions to remove and deprecate critical features in their app only to increase costs as if people will be excited to pay money for software that worked a year ago.
This is in no way acceptable.
Watch together was the reason I payed for a Lifetime Plex Pass…
holy crap what is with the aggressive enshittification of plex? do you think removing watch together will somehow make us more willing to write movie reviews you can sell to data brokers or whatever? bring this back NOW.
this was one of the best features of plex. Bring it back!
I heard nobody gives a ■■■■ at plex. Needs updoots,. Won’t implement without $$. Lifetime member, will fall on deaf ears. Even bought swag to support crew. So give up, it’s gone.
