I disagree. This thread was created all the way back in Sept '23 as plex started to make this switch from unwatched indicators to watched ones with many many sub threads and reddit posts complaining about the same thing. That’s way before this unintentional bug in their new design was introduced.
For me its clear, the community are divided and that outside of new bugs and the obvious lacking consistency in the new design. Yes, I know folks are more vocal about things they don’t like but still, only a very small number of posts have been supporting this which is why I say the community is divided.
We just need a toggle. Give us watched, unwatched or no indicators. Will that be hard to make happen, maybe!
Yep, that’s fair. I left out a word which would have more accurately conveyed my thoughts: recent. As in the “recent outrage over this change.” I’ll leave it unedited since it’s already been read and quoted.
I think I mentioned it before, but I’m in no way against giving folks an option to customize this. Heck, the developer of Plex Mod for Kodi (PM4K) has recently done just that, even going so far as to allow users to use custom images for their indicators.
Yep, that’s my mistake. I blame multitasking. Or something.
However, the message is still the same: The unwatched episode missing bug you mention has been fixed in beta and will eventually roll out to GA (if you don’t want to install the beta).
And I understand you and others prefer the orange wedge unwatched indicator. Maybe that’ll be added back as an option. But at the very least, you can have your unwatched episode counts at the show and season levels, if you install the beta or are patient.
I just spent a lot of time a few weeks ago to build a Chicago One playlist for all 3 shows (Fire, PD, Med) and now that the indicators are gone from what is unwatched, I have to search for the last episode that we did watch and then scroll way down to find that episode and start from there. On Rokus, it will play in the playlist order, on Apple TVs, it will play whatever episode is next for that particular show and not follow the order of the playlist.
I really wish that we could just choose to have the yellow indicators as before rather than a compromise on what Plex thinks we want. We use (and paid) for the functionality to control our content and something that has been in place for 5+ years gets removed right after I chose to use a smart playlist for the first time. Now it makes it harder to enjoy the shows knowing that we might have missed something and have to go back and find what we missed.
Dunno why we would change from having indicators on the main library screen to now having it show as blank if there is unwatched shows and watched shows with a tick in the corner.
no you have to enter into a selected show to see how many episodes are unwatched.
Surely leaving that on the main screen is a better option ??
I appreciate giving options but I would prefer to have the unwatched episode count on my TV show like it was before. If you want to change indicators like this give us the option to choose, please make have the counter back as one of the choices.
I have to assume that you’re seeing this on an Android device. If that is the case then a Show’s unwatched episode count should be returned when you update to 10.18.0, which was recently released but may still be rolling our on Google’s app store.
The issue of missing unwatched Episode counts on Shows has been mentioned before several times. If you’re reporting this issue from another client please let me know which one it is
You can choose to hide the unwatched count on Shows if you choose to not include TV Shows with the Watched Indicator setting.
I am still using version 1.76.2.3951-15712eae for my desktop app because it has the unwatched orange triangle.
While it is nice to be able to turn off the watched indicator in the newer release, the issue still exists that you cannot put on the indicator for unwatched items like it was before it was abruptly taken away.
would it be best to create a separate thread for the season counters bug? I believe this is distracting from the main point of this thread regarding unwatched counters in general.
Also I disagree with the status of this thread being “solved”, the proposed solution is no solution at all.
