Lol… it’s all good. I don’t remember this happening so either it’s been resolved or I don’t do things the same way anymore.
Can you help with getting Plex to play full-resolution, 3D-MKV…

Plex doesn’t do anything special with 3D files, it just plays the file. Manually enable 3D mode on your TV.
This question was kind of jest because I know Plex cares not about this subject, but this is precisely the issue. LOL
The TAB/SBS files that Plex CAN play are just specially formatted, half-resolution 1080 files that the TV puts back together. Ideally I would like to see an option for it to play full-resolution, 3D-MVC.mkv files as are created with MakeMKV or CloneBD and other tools. Those play back at FULL 1080 resolution, instead of half, plus the bonus is that if you can play those files in 3D, you need only one copy of the movie to play it in 3D or 2D. It’s the same file.
To my knowledge, Kodi running on an RPi under openELEC is the only way to do this without going to a proprietary hardware player like a Popcorn Time, Xidoo etc. Of course those platforms do NOT support Plex and use their own OS and player making them non-starters for me. I want a uniform platform across my Shields, Firesticks, Rokus etc, plus all the other awesome features I use like DVR and live TV…
Plex is almost perfect for me except for that glaring omission of real 3D…and that pesky “Continue Watching” bug where it fills up all three slots with the same movie…![]()
I know enhancements happen all the time, but those are two biggies for me that have always been there…
The video players Plex uses do not support MVC files, so it wouldn’t be possible to playback these files. Top-down and side-by-side can be handled by the TV.
Yeah…although I don’t know the technical reason Plex can’t handle them, I know it’s not able to.
I’ve been playing with LibreELEC which can play 3D-MVC through Kodi. It has a Plex add-on that seems promising. I was able to actually play 3D-MVC on that RPi using the Plex interface, but not consistently. Still messing with settings…
