WD MyCloud Home will not show any content in any folders

I have read some of the other posts about this issue, but I put the movie into the shared folder on mycloud home, and still, it says my library is empty.

with my other NAS it gives me the option to add folders. I understand that mycloud home is more restricted, but I’m not sure if I need to change anything on the plex side of things to get this to work properly. At this point no matter where I put the files it refuses to recognize them even though I am using the stock “shared” files.

can someone lend me a hand on this one?

  • Just double-checking… you have added the media files in the Shared Movies / Shared TV Shows/ … folders inside Files > Plex and triggered the Scan library files action?
  • Does the file naming fit the corresponding category (e.g. tv-episodes organized as a tv-show with a sXXeYY pattern to indicate season/episode numbers; movies organized as movies…)?
  • I take it your files are actually supported by Plex (e.g. no raw DVD/Blu-ray folder structures or disc images like .iso or .dvdmedia)?

Keep in mind the version of Plex Media Server installed on your WD MyCloud Home is ancient (version 1.18.6 IIRC… that’s now more than 2 years old).

it must have just taken time. Probably because the version is so ancient compared to the one I have on my other NAS which is current. It’s amazing how fast and accurate everything is now compared to that version. I just wish I could upgrade that server, but with how “user-friendly” aka restrictive and slow mycloudhome is I doubt it. I am almost regretting this one, but I got it for cheap because they aren’t supporting my first mycloud, so I guess it’s an even trade. But man Plex is hot garbage on this thing compared to the updated version. Thank you for your help though, I appreciate it
