WD MyCloud Secure Server Connections

Server Version#: 1.25.9.5752-344846934 (or 4.82.1)
Player Version#: 4.82.1 (web version on OSX Safari)

A few weeks ago I lost access to my media in Plex stored on my 4tb Single Bay Western Digital MyCloud.

Today I have been trying to get it to work again and it is beating me, if someone can help I would really appreciate it please.

The WD home.mycloud.com site shows my Plex details as:
Service Version: 1.25.9.5752-344846934

There is an option to configure > this takes you to app.plex.tv and within here I get a message saying:

app.plex.tv is unable to connect to ā€œMy Cloud Homeā€ securely

Its ā€œSecure connectionsā€ setting may be set to disabled, or you may need to adjust some settings on your network. You can learn more about secure connections here.

The article within the link shows screenshots that I don’t see, and it looks like it may have been written for an earlier version maybe?

Additionally, on the one hand I appear to have the ability to download a new WD package, but on the WD help pages it is made clear that I can’t update the packages and it has to be managed through the WD Discovery App.

As far as I can tell I have updated my Mac OSX, my WD Discovery App (and every app it will let me do), my security preferences in system preferences… still no joy.

I deleted the server and disabled and re-enabled the server, and when it does launch into Plex I get presented with the same message about the ā€˜Secure Connections’.

Is my WD cloud drive now considered too old maybe? :frowning:

Thank you for your time.

can you go the LocalIPAddress:32400/web. where LocalIPAddress is the actual IP of your WD?

Hi @BigWheel, apologies - I don’t know how to find the IP address of the WD :frowning:

The WD is plugged into a BT router, but the wifi is served through a BT Whole Home mesh system of discs. I can access IP addresses of any device on the disks through the router page but the WD isn’t on there.

This used to work fine, we haven’t changed anything (but obviously can if we need to).

I’ve been on the MyCloud app and downloaded the logs, but none make it clear at all which is the IP!

I thought I found it, but for some reason it brings up info about my HP printer?! :stuck_out_tongue:

Is there a good way for me to query my WD IP on a Mac Please?

Thank you @BigWheel!!!

That targeted my drive beautifully and it all appears happy again.

Thank you so much!!

Just to bookend this, the support from WD helped me find my IP for my drive by telling me the command:
arp -a

(works in either Command Prompt on PC or Terminal on Mac)
