WD PR2100 Processer Usage

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: N/A

So today at 2pm I just happen to be home and working on my laptop when 2 of my shows were going to finish recording so I thought I would pull up the PR2100 and watch the CPU as the files were going through the ComSkip process.

Due to the timing of the spikes above, I’m assuming that the spikes are each file saving after ComSkip finishes. What are the Pros/Cons of increasing the priority for ComSkip? I’m assuming I don’t want it too high as that would interfere with file operations (transcoding etc if I was watching anything at the same time). Is 10-20% of the CPU usage what I want it to be at normally? If it takes 10 minutes to finish ComSkip on a 60min file using 10-20% CPU load, would I get a better user experience if I used 40-50% and only had a 5 minute delay?

I try not to watch anything live or behind live (with the hopes of “catching up”) as much as possible because there’s an issue where Plex becomes unresponsive when I try to RW/FF during a commercial break. Plex just spins and I have to stop playback and either resume from the beginning or watch live. Usually when this happens, I just wait for the show to end and wait for the commercials to be removed though. The file ends up recording/saving fine with no issues or artifacts in the resulting video file. This is why I think it’s just a resource issue with Plex and nothing do to with the streams from the HDHomerun Quattro.

Anyway, I just wanted to through it out to there and see if should tweak anything…

Thanks!!!

David
