"Week in review" email spam from Plex

Every week I get a spam email from Plex titled “Week in review”.

  • I am not subscribed to a week in review email.
  • The unsubscribe link doesn’t work (it just takes me to subscription preferences - where it is not selected).
  • Replying to the email doesn’t work - I get a bounce.
  • Forwarding it to support@plex.tv doesn’t work - I get an email back saying they don’t accept support emails and to discuss it on the forum unless its relating to billing.

I’ve already disabled push notifications because they are being used to spam with no unsubscribe - do I need to block plex emails as well?

if you have a mobile device with our app can you check Settings>Notifications>My Friends activity> and see if email is enabled.

You don’t see this option when going to https://www.plex.tv/email-preferences/ ?

Also when you go to https://www.plex.tv/email-preferences/ make sure you are signed into browser. it might be why you are not showing all the options in screenshot

Thanks for the reminder to look.

I was subscribed but never got emails so unsubscribed anyway

I had notifications selected in the iOS app but don’t remember notifications from the app either. Now unchecked.

Hey, thanks for your reply.

In https://www.plex.tv/email-preferences/ “Email me a summary of my friends activity” is already unchecked (I am signed in) but the emails still arrive.

On your recommendation I installed the Plex mobile app on my phone - and found that the same setting - is checked  - so I suspect Plex some some DB/configuration issues in the backend?

Seems to me far simpler just to learn how to block an email address.

I always scratch my head when I hear a news program about a poor lady who is being stalked by some idiot guy and has received like 3000 texts from them. Really? I mean have you tried the block button?

Some people want some notifications to come through but not all.
