Plex has had longstanding loading issues when the application first launches. This happens with Android and with Web. As a workaround, I very often have to relaunch the mobile app, or close the Web browser tab and open a new one.
Sometimes I have to repeat these processes multiple times. Finally, the Plex home screen displays normally. If I don’t do that, then the mobile app shows emptiness where my collections should be. And the Web app shows a droll splash screen.
Recently, a new kind of loading problem has started happening. Partway through a video, the Plex Web player pauses indefinitely. The playback progress bar indicates that buffering quit working. To temporarily resolve the buffering problem, I have to close the Web browser tab, open a new one, navigate to the video I was just watching, and resume playback.
Sometimes the playback spinner bug happens multiple times through playback, and can even coincide with the main loading splashscreen bug. The result is the video watching experience being interrupted, multiple times, by random stalls, requiring intervention and disrupting enjoyment of the material.
Not sure why Plex gets stuck so often.
I’m using Plex Server on Ubuntu Linux LTS, by the way.
