I have been using Plex for ever but last year when updating to a new computer I noticed that when I go to sign in on my computer my buddies profile is showing as the main profile and I had to add my name as a user. This is odd because it is my computer and I had added him as user years ago but now it shows like I am getting into his account which is actually mine and all my movies when I get on. I got his 4 digit passcode and logged in and went in to delete him off but it said it would delete everything so I stopped. I figured I would do it another time well now that my data seems to come unlinked when I logged out I figure it is time to fix it all. At this point I am thinking of uninstalling everything of plex and just starting over and then bring all my media back on from the synology. Is this what I should do…fresh start?
Oh right now I recently signed out of my account because everything on my plex was showing that it was not connecting to the server so I logged out but when I logged back in my stuff did not show up (I have this issue going in another discussion)
In Settings → Plex Home, who is listed as the Home Admin, you or your friend?
If your friend, then you are part of his Plex Home.
You will need to leave his Plex Home. See How do I leave a Plex Home?.
If you wish to share libraries with your friend (and visa-versa), add each other as friends under Manage Library Access.
I am the home admin and I have him as a guest. I am not seeing it now. This was a few months ago when we saw this. It was happening when I had a saved chrome browser to my desktop that I would click on and get right into plex except it was showing his name as admin.
My IT buddy and I decided not to use that particular link and just started another link on my computer right into my plex account and that did not show his name just mine. We are not sure how that ever showed the other guy as admin as I have never signed him in to my computer but have only gave him access as a guess (maybe I did something weird and made him an admin by mistake one time) who knows…My IT guy and I have decided to rebuild everything tonight and delete all Plex off my server computer and reinstall it again and that will probably take care of all my issues… nice and fresh
