What a bad, bad management by Plex

There’s no a customer service. Ok, we’re used to that by now so, if you’ve a problem, you’re on your own (or lucky enough to get someone helpful on this forum).

What I really don’t like is that they delete (or not approve) comments from their blog when they present a new feature and you share thoughts not in line with theirs.

For example they just release the “new experience” on iOS platforms and all my lifetime photo albums are not reacheable anymore. Is it a bug? Did they silently killed photos? What else?

Also, the new way to show libraries, less intuitive and useful than a sidebar list, don’t memorize the view option, so they keep on resetting back to “suggested” every time you switch from movies to tv series and so on.

I still like Plex, and I’ve purchased Pass years ago because it’s a useful app. But I don’t feel anymore to convince friends to pay for it.

Every time there’s a new update, something useful silently disappears. It started as a way to organize our media, now it’s all about live tv and shows to purchase… :frowning:

Also mentioned in the blog and release announcement.

That would be OK if they at least had the replacement Photos application actually working! (Not sure if you’ve tried it yourself, but IT DOESN’T WORK). So Plex completely removed an app that had key functionality from IOS users without any kind of replacement readily available.

God I hate all the Plex defenders…

Yes, I later found this, but it seems I can’t rollback the update in the App Store. :frowning:

Also I tried to download Plex Photos from the App Store, but it’s so old (and never updated) that it doesn’t even shows the albums, just a random endless list of photos all together.

I would be ok to have a separate app for photos, but it should be at least on par with what the main app offered before to kill the feature from the Plex app.

I have also found the Photos app doesn’t work at all on my Android device. I usually get a black screen.

On my iPhone I can see thumbnails but then when I go to display a photo, I get “Failed to Load Image”…what’s interesting is I do get a full-screen image for about half a second, then I get the message.

We have a Sonos moment here. A radical redesign that is incomplete and buggy without any option to transition… just forced upon us

Now they even removed the possibility to add comments to their updates.

I’ve no problem if they want to make more money trying to become a new Netflix, but they shouldn’t do that at the expenses of their customers (especially the ones who paid the full price to support them).

Now the app is moving on the side all the features that made Plex great to highlight the ones nobody required. :frowning:

I prefer multiple apps, but the photos app doesn’t work at all. Assumingly they have spent all their resources getting the new experience launched and more time will be give To plex Photos, I believe I read that on the forums a few months back.

But I agree, not having a functioning photos app while also nuking it was a poor decision. Also, I’m trying hard to like the new experience but it’s way too clunky right now. Nothing is easy to get too and everything requires way to many clicks.

That all said, I prefer music, photos and videos to be seperate.

I fear this is part of Plex’s plan to garner monthly revenue from lifetime pass members. They’re already headed in that direction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt-dSeCUQI0

This could be that once they get the photos out of the Plex app, they can begin to charge monthly fees to use the new apps. I hope I’m wrong.
