What Causes This Issue?

The top picture is the actual run time of the episode and the bottom picture shows what the run time says when you bring up the episode details. What causes this issue & how do I fix it? The top time in the player is accurate & obviously the episode details are incorrect.

Thanks in advance.

You know what, I have experienced that Plex Forums is so hit & miss that I probably won’t be posting here anymore. LOL!

BTW, I found out how to fix the issue but why Plex on Shield TV does this with MPEG2 videos, I have no idea. LOL! If it were a constant issue, that would make sense but it isn’t. It’s random & arbitrary and makes no sense. No worries. I have found a way to work around it so, the moderators can close this post.

Sorry, I missed this post when you first typed it. My first assumption about it is that the video was not analyzed. I have seen that if Plex fails to analyze a video before-hand, it can display a video with wildly incorrect length information, like you showed in your pic.

But if you never come back, I understand. The forums are community-based, and the devs rarely hop in unless special attention is called to a forum post.

If it’s not too much trouble, I’d like to hear how you fixed the issue. The internet is quite full of “nvm, I fixed it” self-replies that do not help future forum searchers with the same problem.

Thanks for the reply. I’m encoding my DVD files to HEVC and it seems to have fixed the issue. An added benefit is the smaller file size so, we good. :+1:t5:
