Nvidia Shield TV HD Film DVR recordings won't play correctly using Plex but do play using VLC

I can’t figure out to get HD recordings of films to play correctly, even those recorded using the Plex DVR. The problem only arises when the film starts and not prior to that. Adverts play as normal up to the start of a film. I thought it may have something to do with refresh rates or even subtitles but have no clue what to do to sort it. The recordings can be played normally using other players like VLC. I’d be grateful for any help with this problem.
Using Plex as PVR requires the “paid for” service. Anybody else encountered this?
The latest update has not resolved this issue.
Any Plex Techs got a clue what to do? Why it can’t play its own HD recordings? No?

Thanks for the feedback. The videos now stream okay using pc browser but continue to stutter using the sheild. Logs as requested include play and pause NOT the recording time as they were timed in.

Bug. Recorded TV plays back in slow motion; played perfectly before

+1 on this, I’m UK too I’ve experienced it with both Shield TV and Android mobile for certain HDHomeRun tuner recorded programs. Most things are fine, but the BBCs David Attenboroughs The Perfect Planet is one that exhibits this issue. I use the same work around as you do. Edit: at this point I think it might be something to do with 1080 interlaced content (main program) and when the pre-content (adverts/ident) is progressive, or vice-versa, but I haven’t had the time to investigate further.

Server Version#: Version 1.21.2.3943 Player Version#: I updated to Version 1.21.2.3943 and the shows recorded under this version had to be re-analysed to get direct play working on iOS and the nvidia shield tv. Did you ever get a solution to this on the Shield? - This seems like a really similar, if not the same, issue to mine with Live streaming tv… here: Crashing/Freezing on Ad breaks and Dolby surround switching (on Shield as player and HDHomerun)

I get freezing and crashing when going into movies, like you say… and particularly when they have Dolby 5.1 transmissions… but I also get it just going in and out of some commercial breaks…

I don’t get it when using the HomeRun app and don’t know if it’s something to do with the bitstream output of the Shield…? I’ve yet to try something like a firestick to see if the problem is the same with plex player on that… Apple TV tends not to show the same problem, but then it doesn’t bitstream, so when using something other than the DVR/Live tv, obviously there’s no more atmos, and it’s nice to have it all being plated through the same box…

I can only assume that it’s something to do with Plex and the Shield… but any thoughts’ welcome. - and you are right, recent updates have made no difference.

Hi. This problem appears to have been resolved by recent updates. All recorded HD movies now play at normal speed. I did nothing for it to work correctly other than update the Plex software on the Shield. Thanks all for your input and to Plex techs.
