I updated to PMS 1.16.1 per the instructions in the email (i.e., refreshed my EPG, deleted and re-added my recordings). Recordings are happening, but the metadata is all messed up. For example, the episode of “Cat in the Hat” recorded yesterday is Season 3 Episode 28 (https://www.thetvdb.com/series/the-cat-in-the-hat-knows-a-lot-about-that/episodes/6864950) however, plex recorded it as “Season 2018 Episode 01”. Also, there is no episode description loaded into the database as was done previously.
Note: I have the agent set as ‘personal media shows’ due to the problem reported elsewhere with PBS shows’ guide data not matching TVDB. Thus, previously all metadata was loaded from the EPG.
Is this happening for other people? If this is expected behavior, it makes the DVR pretty useless because it can’t keep track of which episode its recording (like back in the days of the VCR…)
I have pretty much the same situation - upgraded to 1.16.1, refreshed guide, deleted recording schedule, recreated recording schedule for The Young & The Restless (for my wife). Plex recorded yesterday’s episode but labeled it January 1, 2019 and then did not record today’s episode even though the guide shows the program is set for recurring recordings. I had to change the channel to Beta to get the upgrade. I left it there - should the upgrade channel be set back to normal (or whatever the non Beta is labeled)?
I see the same error today after upgrading to 1.16.1. The Ellen Degeneres show just incorrectly saved with the file name 2019-01-01 and then future planned recordings disappear because they are also incorrectly named 1/1/19.
Some of it looks like a step in the right direction - for instance: using the date for shows that are produced daily (new shows). However, it looks like that work is not yet complete.
Further, for shows like ‘Family Feud’, where there might be 2 new showings on the same date, this logic will break.
It’s not yet ready for prime time…
I just updated my guide this morning and the problem has cleared for my particular show. The Ellen D Show now has unique dates before each episode instead of 1/1/19. I reported the issue using the web form and that seems to have worked quickly. Also the guide appears to download faster now than it did with Gracenote.
Plex is getting a lot of criticism on the forum right now. But I have to say, for my uses, so far, the guide switch is no big deal and pretty well done.
Same problem here. Really noticeable with news broadcast that won’t record. I have the DVR set to record the new episodes, but they aren’t recording, I suspect it is because the guide keeps tagging today’s news broadcasts with dates in the past, sometimes one day, sometimes a year or more.
I too have deleted my DVR / Tuners, re-added them, refreshed the EPG, deleted all recording schedules and re-added them… still have the same problems.
Please fix or go back to the old EPG, it worked just fine!!!
My mistake was not understanding the instructions - I deleted all DVR subscriptions when I should have deleted the HDhomerun DVR. After deleting HDhomerun and reinstalling it as the DVR everything straightened out.
Well, it looks like Plex got this fixed. A few days ago episode names, numbers, and descriptions started showing up again. For now it seems to work (but still disappointed no one tested the new guide before releasing it into the wild!!)
I also am having the exact same issue. The guide data shows the wrong Episode Number so it’s showing dates for recordings 7 days ago. Super frustrating.
Not sure why Plex is forcing us to change guide data provider in update, but I went from all data complete and images displaying perfectly, to almost half of the channels missin images and data. This could possibly be the worst update Plex has ever done.

Did anyone get to the bottom of this? I’m trying to record some shows and they show in the grid guide correctly, but when you go into the detail of the show, the date and time is 1 Jan at 01.00. It’s impossible to schedule any recordings!
