EPG Showing Generic Season and Episode

Server Version#: 1.16.1.1246
Player Version#:

A significant number of shows are showing up with a season-episode of “2019-E1”. This is causing a problem with DVR recording. “Without a Trace” on ION is an example.

I have a similar problem which is going to cause all sorts of headaches with scheduled recordings if it is not fixed. Seems to affect most of my channels, most news shows, game shows, etc. I’m in Canada.

Same problem in the UK

Many Episodes show as 2019 E1

Server: 1.16.1.1246

Same problem here in the US. Lots of programs showing up as 2019 E1 and won’t record, even if “all episodes” is used. I’ve deleted and readied the DVR, rescheduled all my recordings- same problem.

The only thing that “helps” is deleting any recording for a particular show that has 2019 E1 listed, then all the future episodes are scheduled, but once the next episode is recorded, all the future scheduled episodes are removed again.

This all started after the 1.16.1.1246 upgrade.

Same issue here, with the episodes showing 2019 E1 and no episode specific metadata, so even if it is an HD vs SD thing, it looks like it’s going to record both since it doesn’t seem to know that they are the same episode? Very not good, for something that is being shoved down our throats on a moments notice.

The new guide is absolutely worthless and another example that PLEX has no idea how LiveTV/DVR should function nor care. They use their customers for Beta testers.

Same problem here. Version 1.16.1.1246. I have a HDHomeRun Prime with Comcast / Xfinity cable as the provider. Here’s an example of a new episode that didn’t record because this data is missing / wrong:

@sa2000 Any thoughts on why the Season / Episode information is wrong with this new provider?

EDIT: I reverted back to 1.16.0.1226 and deleted / re-added DVR and this is how the same show looks (notice Season number / Episode number / details are correct:

In this thread Movie Fan “claims” it will be fix but I’m not holding my breath at this time!

The Live TV/DVR functionality has continually been a disappointment. Using the users who rely on the DVR service to beta test new functionality that doesn’t work is seriously bad development plans. Plex was a great all-around movie/music library system back in the day. Every feature they’ve added over the years seems to be buggy and then never get fixed.

Just adding to the conversation that I am experiencing the same issues as others have reported here. Many episodes are being given the E1 status and not getting recorded. Didn’t this start when PLEX sent out an email indicating that they were modifying something with the EPG?

“We’re making major changes to how guide data is curated and delivered in Plex.”

Whatever they did broke episode numbers and severely crippled the DVR functionality. Hope this gets resolved quickly. EPG data requires Plex Pass. We kept out part of the deal, now keep yours.

still having the same issues for certain channels. 1.16.1.1291

Im have been having the same issue with Plex not having the correct season/episode information, it used to happen every now and then but recently its wrong at least 33% of the time. Here is an example.

The XML is from the guide data file I get from Zap2it and the first pic is the guide data as show from the Zap2it website. The last pic is what Plex shows for the same episode. I count 25 of the 69 listed episodes over the next 2 weeks are incorrect that comes out to about 36% incorrect for just the show the Loud House.

Looking into this I have a lot of shows that are showing generic or wrong episode information. some of these shows are mega builders, jack hanna’s wild adventures, touched by an angel, Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin, Get wild.

From what I can tell this started when the EPG data changed. It could have been going on longer, but started noticing it now. It is getting annoying that it is happening still after almost a full two months

Hi,
More or less same issue here in Europe (Switzerland), since last update.
Some times it is right, but mostly of the time it displays the date of the show instead of the episode numbering.
I suppose it becomes from an incomplete EPG filling or mining.
