i am running the plex server on a windows but the listing of the alphabet on the right side of the library listing for some reason has disappeared! is there a setting that i can restore this listing?
Two situations I know of that will make that disappear:
- If you only have a handful of movies, enough for no more than 2 or 3 pages scrolling, the letter list will not appear.
- If your library is sorted by date, rating, or anything that wouldn’t make sense for a letter list, the letter list will not appear.
If those don’t apply, we’ll need more information. Server and player version numbers, which device you’re seeing this on, etc.
PMS: 1.18.2.2015 on Synology DS918+
Plex for Windows: 1.3.1.916, Win10 Pro v1903
Just checked this myself. Library sort is All / Movies / By Title and has 700+ movies.
Works fine with Plex Web and Plex Media Player.
Does not work with Plex for Windows (i.e. no A, B, C, etc on right side of window).
I can confirm, 1500 displayed (420 collections and hide items in collections), and no letters along the right on the Windows client…
I can only assume this is because it’s presumed you’re using a mouse and a mouse has a scroll wheel making quick work of the list… But it would be nice to include the letters along the right side for the Plex for Windows app
Try the forum preview Plex desktop app (version 1.4.0.924):
Both the macOS and Windows clients show the alpha picker on the right-hand side for my relatively small movie library (~200 in view).
Yep, that did it for me… thanks
Or a bug. It was there in prior versions.
I didn’t pay much attention… But, in the preview build posted above, it definitely works…
Yep. Just loaded it myself.
This is the Plex app that is installed on my Samsung TV. The alphabet is listed on the right side of the original installed app but the listing disappeared after about 3 or 4 upgrades. Not sure what happened. I have 809 movies set up. I am fairly new to Plex and am still learning. Any help would be appreciated.

Robin, I’d remove your e-mail, for security purposes…
As beckfield pointed out, we’re going to need more information…
What Server Version are you running?
What OS is the Server Running on?
Which Samsung Client Version Number are you Running?
What is the Model of the Samsung TV (May be helpful)
